IMEX in Frankfurt this year went really well, 3 busy days full of appointments, events and very good education.
My personal impression about the trade show is very positive. I saw many improvements and very good partnerships the organization made to provide the best service to Exhibitors, Buyers and Visitors.
I appreciated in particular 2 things: the Tech Tap area and the Learning Carousel sessions, some compact learning moments useful to optimize the time at IMEX helping participants to decide which stand to visit to receive more information. Read more

Whether you are attending as an exhibitor or buyer, there is plenty of mobile apps that can allow you to use your mobile devices to take the best out of these important trade shows. There are some key points in managing your participation at trade shows that are well known. A list of things to do before going, another one on things to do when attending and hopefully one for the steps to follow-up after the trade show.
This is not going to be a lesson about marketing or sale strategies.
What I think you would agree with me is that we all are always under pressure and with so little time to dedicate in preparing those kind of meetings that finding easy-to-use solution with almost no budget required can appear to be a pipe dream.
The FRESH Conference is the annual conference organized by Meeting Support Institute dedicated to meetings professionals and focused on designing effective meetings.
FRESH will be in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 13-15 January 2013 and, for almost 3 days, we will explore together meeting formats, session formats, presentation formats, tools and techniques.
The FRESH13 adventure is not just theory, but thorough practical experience.
What we like the most regarding The FRESH Conference, beside the opportunity to experiment new stuff related to meeting design without having any fear of failing, is the sense of belonging to a tribe.
Today I was thinking about the criteria used by the organizers while selecting the right buyers they would prefer to host in occasion of the next tradeshows, exhibitions and workshops they organize for our industry.
When you apply to be hosted you fill in a form where they ask you to write detailed information about at least 3 past events you organized and usually at least 3 future events you are going to organize in the near future.
They ask you what are your partners in managing the event, what is the venue, what is the dimension of the event in terms of number of participants and so on.
Then, in order to evaluate your ranking, they check your references calling the venues you should have booked, calling the partners you mentioned in your form and in a very efficient way they examine if you are an “honest real buyer” who deserve to be hosted or if you are a “buyer by profession” meaning with this second definition those who made of being a hosted buyer their main job. Two full days in Rimini at the BTC, the Italian trade show dedicated to meetings and events, with a very interesting education program.
I was there to hold two seminars: the first one, the 21st of June, was about Mobile applications and web tools for event organisation, the second one, presented the day after – the 22nd of June, was about Hybrid Events: theories and techniques to extend the reach of an event.
The number of participants registered to attend these two seminars was very large.
This is a confirmation the high interest of our peers on these topics. As a matter of fact more than 120 people attended these sessions, the meeting room (with a capacity of 90 seats) was completely full and many participants were standing in the back part of the room. Read more
