Event professionals why care about iPad?

iPad or other tablets?

The result of a poll made with the voting system during a training session that I’ve attended at EIBTM 2011 in Barcelona shows that the participants to the session had:

  1. 53%   iPad
  2. 13%   Android
  3.  6%   Other Tablet
  4. 28%   No Tablet

Taking into account that the iPad is the fastest selling device in history and that more than 25 million iPads have already been sold, what are the problems and the opportunities that an Event Professionals need to face? Read more

How to Promote an Event with Social Media by Paul Gilling

As a frequent speaker at events of all sizes, I’ve had a chance to observe some of the best practices conference organizers used to promote their events through social media. In most cases, these efforts cost little or nothing more than your time.

Here are some suggestions for leveraging social channels for event promotion. I’m sure I haven’t covered all the possibilities, so please contribute your ideas as comments. We’ll look first at tactics that can work for any event, then I’ll propose a few ideas for large conferences covering multiple days and many speakers. Read more

Food and Mood at Events – Do they have a mutual influence?

I personally experienced at the Crown Plaza Tower in Copenhagen the mutual influence of the food and the mood of the attendees at an event.

The first day of The Fresh Conference started very early, at 8:00 o’clock in the morning the plenary room was full of attendees. As soon as they closed the door, the food and beverage team of the hotel started to set up the first coffee break.

Which ones am I missing that you cannot live without? [disclaimer: many of the tools below are CMI partner tools]  Read more

Drum & Piano Project for your Event

I’m back from #EMEC12, the European Meetings and Events Conference, held in Budapest from 29 to 31 of January. A conference, well organized, with some new features and inputs of which I will write in more detail in the next few days.

The most beautiful moment that I bring home with me and that has become the soundtrack of my conference is the concert of ENDI & HAVASI  – Drum&Piano project during the opening session. This is what I want to share with you and I would like to suggest you to take into consideration for your next event:

One man from the economy, who became a virtuoso.
And another from the street, who became a rockstar.
A composer who goes beyond the rules, Read more

Workshop: Exploring iPad Apps for Meeting and Events

The aim of the workshop I presented at The Fresh Conference in Copenhagen was to explore and experiment some of the most useful iPad applications to help designing effective meetings. Throughout the session, participants have been guided through the use of a range of applications considered essential for the meeting industry: strategies and tools that focus on event management, attendees engagement, connecting devices, social media optimization, virtual and shared whiteboards and work spaces. We were successfully supported by the good WiFi of the Crow Plaza Towers in Copenhagen. Read more
