I have noticed a lot more traffic coming from mobile platforms lately and it seems that the smartphone (or Internet in your hand) is something that can’t be ignored. The growth in the market share of the iPhone as well as the continual replacement of the traditional mobile phones with Internet enabled phones like the Android and the Blackberry are driving traffic to sites at an increasing rate.

Here are some numbers

  • Comscore announced that 45.4 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones in an average month during the December to February period, 2010

Workshop: Exploring iPad Apps for Meeting and Events

The aim of the workshop I presented at The Fresh Conference in Copenhagen was to explore and experiment some of the most useful iPad applications to help designing effective meetings. Throughout the session, participants have been guided through the use of a range of applications considered essential for the meeting industry: strategies and tools that focus on event management, attendees engagement, connecting devices, social media optimization, virtual and shared whiteboards and work spaces. How games and fun can change human behavior

I found this interesting video analyzing “gamification” as an umbrella for social media, in a presentation made by John Dye. It is the intersection of loyalty, game design and behavior, and this is a great example of how the number of people using the escalator decrease if you transform the stairs in a piano. Playing games and having fun can really change our way of doing things? If your answer is yes, how this theory can be applied to events?
